If you’re an active honors student interested in transferring to a Tier 1 university, the Take Flight Scholars Program (TFSP) offers unique research and networking opportunities for you. TFSP is a partnership between San Jacinto College and Rice University. Originally launched as a STEM program, TFSP expanded in fall 2025 to include business, humanities, and social sciences in addition to STEM.
The program offers two tracks: Engagement for Continuing Students, designed for first-year students, and Transfer Ready, aimed at second-year students. In the first-year track, programming focuses on academic and career exploration. Second-year students receive specific advisement on selective transfer application writing and overall transfer preparedness.
Both groups have access to specialized academic opportunities offered by Rice University and its faculty and mentors, including conferences and guest speakers. As a Take Flight student, you’ll also receive targeted application support for funded summer research experiences for undergraduates. Take flight with this unique opportunity, offered exclusively to honors students.
